Get three window quotes before you sign
Why the first quote is almost never the one to take.
It usually starts with one window. The one in the living room that fogs up every morning, or the bedroom one that won't stay open without a stick under it. You call someone out, they measure up, and a few days later a number lands in your inbox that makes you sit down.
Here's the part nobody tells you: that number isn't the price of new windows. It's one company's price. Quotes for the exact same job are all over the map. Consumers' Checkbook sent undercover shoppers out for quotes on the same jobs, and for every job the highest quote was more than twice the lowest.
So before you sign anything, get at least three quotes and compare them side by side. The button below takes you to a site that asks a few quick questions about your home and connects you with local window installers who can quote the job.
Takes about a minute. Installers may call or email you to arrange a quote.
